Exporting Track Changes
已完成Hi there, is it possible to export a document with track changes to a DOCX? I'm attempting to import a word doc into Workiva, make necessary changes, then export back to Word. The expectation is that the document will be managed in Workiva going forward but my manager prefers to review changes in Word.

Hi all!
As promised Sarah Degn, recently released is the ability to export a Document (or Spreadsheet) to PDF and include track changes. Now, from the Advanced menu on export, you'll see the option to Include Track Changes.

Currently you cannot export a Document to include track changes, which includes either PDF or DOCX. Our Product Team is looking into adding this feature in and is on the future roadmap, although I don't have a timeline for you. I should add too that the initial plan would be for track changes in PDF, but I'll let them know of your need for a DOCX option as well.
If it helps, the Send for Review option is available which would allow your manager to review the file without needing to be permissioned to the file. They'd only need a seat in your Org and Workspace to be sent the review. More info on Send for Review can be found here: https://support.workiva.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039921292-Send-for-Review.

I also checked on this one and I find the same story, i.e. not much change in its planned delivery date save that it is on the future roadmap which means its likely a 2021 item, unless that changes in which case I'll update you here on on your linked request.

I have same request as well. This feature to export document showing track changes would help from a review perspective. Any updates here?
If this is not a feature yet, is there a way to view all changes within text in WDesk document, similar to Classic or track changes in a Word file (versus having deletion changes shown in Track Changes feature box column)?

Hello and welcome to the Community, Angel! Thanks for your contributions.
At this time I don't have any new updates save for that it is indeed planned, likely in early 2021. Sadly, there's not way to achieve what you are looking for as of yet. This is also part of the same work, what we call "inline track changes. From a release standpoint, inline track changes will come first, followed by having these available in an exported file. I've got your request connected and will certainly keep this post updated with new developments. In the meantime, give me a holler if you have any questions or need anything else. Hi Mike,
Any updates on this? We find that when we run a blackline, it's really hard to follow and it's a jumbled mess. It was ideal back in the Classic environment when we could export a PDF and Word with tracked changes. That way we could modify the changes to what we wanted to show versus every single change.

I totes follow you there. And yes, I can give a slight update. We actually expect having the ability to export a Spreadsheet or Document to PDF with track changes included very soon, within a few days. Pending no unforeseen hiccups, you should definitely have it available before Christmas. A little gift from me to you 🎁. Will there be an update to this functionality to allow for Workiva Spreadsheets to be exported to Excel that include track changes? I appreciate the Spreadsheet to PDF ability, but with the large size of the Spreadsheets we use the PDF is not user-friendly. It'd be a huge win for us to see track changes in Excel for filtering if needed.

Thanks for the question. As of now I'm seeing the bulk of our requests for this functionality related to supporting export of Spreadsheets with Track Changes to PDF only. However, I totally understand your use case and request and I will be happy to share this with our product team.
