    Hello again!

I did get some follow-up from team. Here goes.

Each element in the US GAAP taxonomy has an itemType assigned to it. The itemType's have an allowable set units that can be applied as attribute to a fact. A list of these units can be found  here on the Unit Type Registry. A pure unit is an allowable unit for an element with a pureItemType. Furthermore, the pure unit can be used for dimensionless numeric items like percentages or rates.

The measurement input elements were created with a decimalitemType to allow for flexibility in units. As the taxonomy implementation guide highlights, if a percentage value is disclosed, the "pure" unit (or identified as "number" within Wdesk) would be utilized on that fact. Additionally, if US dollars per share value is disclosed the "usd_per_share" unit would be utilized on that fact.

Hope this helps. As always, holler if you have any questions. Thanks, and have an awesome day!
