Add section
VoltooidWhat is most simple way to split a document (without sections) into several sections? Is it not possible to select text and then click on a create/add section button?

Hi Renate and Sowmya!
As mentioned here, a recent release has now made available Split to New Section. 😃
Thanks to you both for your feedback and patience. Let us know what questions you have in the meantime. Cheers!
Hello and welcome to the Community, Renate!
Currently there's not a shortcut method to splitting sections in a Document, but our Product Team is looking into adding this functionality in. I've shared your interest there and will keep you update on progress for sure.
In the meantime, you can of course create sections and cut/paste your text/tables into those new sections, which can be less than fun. Also, one thing you could do is export the file to DOCX, add Section Breaks in the DOCX file where you want them, and then import the DOCX back into Workiva. Those Section Breaks will tell the importer where to make new sections.
Let me know what questions you have for me, or if you need anything else. Thanks for you contributions and have a great rest of your day!
0This is exactly what I was searching for! Bummer that it is not yet available:-(
0Hi Sowmya!
Thanks for sharing. I'm happy to get you connected with our Product Team on this request. I can at least say its definitely being worked on and I should know soon our Q2 2021 priority list so fingers crossed it will be included there.
In the meantime, let me know what questions you have. Thanks again and happy Monday!
0Super! Thank you!
0Hi Mike, I'd like to suggest putting the selection/command in the right click so where other than directly next to paste. Or if you could right click and remove section split, similar to how you can easily remove page breaks. I was trying to paste a sentence in and accidentally hit this new feature and split out a large section and my control Z did not work, so I had to copy/paste the entire section back in and the linking was not ideal. We also had to redo all our attachment support as these did not come over in the copy/paste. This is great functionality, just a small user experience update. Thanks!
0Thanks for your insights, Catherine! I've got your feedback in the hopper.
I see what you mean though—that is awful close. I've not noticed that before. Suddenly I'm very wary of my right-click menu 😊
