Automated Table of Contents
I just had a couple of questions on the style guides and set up of the Automated Table of Contents. Mainly the first question could be an issue for us, but the others we can work around or reformat.
1) In our Proxy, we have an Appendix section starting on page A-1. Are we limited to either A or # page numbers when using the Automated TOC? Similary, for footnotes in a 10-K/10-Q, are you able to make F-## page numbers in the Automated TOC?
2) It appears the section names and the page numbers have to be formatted the same. Either both bolded or both unbolded? In some filings we bold certain section names, but all page numbers are unbolded. Not a deal breaker, we could adjust our formatting a bit.
3) In our 10Q/10K, each Part (Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV) and the Exhibit Index are included and hyperlinked to sections, but we don’t include the page numbers. Is there a way to replicate this in the Automated TOC, or does a page number have to be populated? This is another instance where we could change the way we format these.
4) It looks like when deleting the heading text in the document, it doesn’t actually remove it from the TOC, for example if Proposal 4 is deleted in the document, the Automated TOC doesn’t update as a blank cell, it still shows Proposal 4 even though the document text is deleted? Then, looks like to remove entirely from the TOC, either the style guide has to be reverted to normal or the section has to be deleted, which I think make sense. I just would have expected the cell to show as blank if the text in the document was deleted.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Ashley,
Apologies about the delayed response here. Thank you for your patience, and we have some answers for you now.
- The Automated TOC just pulls in the page numbers as they exist, and there not an option at this time to add a prefix to the page number.
- Right now, the section names and page numbers have to be formatted the same.
- We do not have an option to not include the page number for some sections.
- It may take a few seconds, but deleted headings in the document should be removed from the auto TOC. If you have found a situation where this is not the case, I would recommend contacting our support team.
For items 1-3, I will open some product feedback tickets to let our product team know that you are interested in those features. We'll also keep you updated on if there are any changes to those requests.
Thank you!
