Large 8-K Exhibit (Issues with Formatting) - Any options to avoid PDF upload?

Annually, we have a large repurchase agreement (100+ pages) which has some formatting which leads to inconsistencies between the Word version loaded to WDesk and the executed version of the document. As a result, we've had to default to loading a PDF into EDGAR. This isn't necessarily an issue but we don't like to 100+ attachments/.jpg images in EDGAR.

Has anyone else run into a similar situation and, if so, how did you avoid? We've been told it's "just an issue with WDesk" but would like to know if any other teams have worked through similar issues in the past.
