Hi Jessica!
Great news. Authorship was recently made generally available for all Workiva accounts. Wanted to spread the good news. Let us know what questions you have and thanks so much for your patience and feedback. Cheers!
Hi Jessica!
Thanks for your contribution here. I did some hunting around to make sure I wasn't missing it, but indeed, Authorship is not yet available in Documents (as it is in Spreadsheets). I do find a few requests for this functionality and I'm happy to add you to the list of folks looking for this feature.
We'll be in touch soon with more info on following along, and should any other passers by be interested in this functionality too, feel free to add you own comment, need, urgency, etc., or simply vote it up. Each little nudge helps.
Give me a holler if there are any questions or you need anything else. Thanks again and have a super day!
0Jessica Beamish - Hi Jessica!
I am the Product Manager for this feature area. Can you tell me more about this? Specifically:
- Can you tell me a story about a time where having this would have been useful?
- What impact did it have on you and/or your process by not having it?
- How would things have been different if you had Authorship in Documents?
Thank you in advanced for sharing your experience to help me understand!
Kevin
0This would be helpful in our quarterly and annual report reviews. Due to the size of the documents it can be hard to see who made the changes and why. This feature in spreadheets is very helpful and can direct you to the correct person to reach out to if you have questions on the changes instead of trying to run Blacklines and send multiple emails hunting down edits.
0Mike When you say generally available... what does that mean? The reason I ask is because I'm still not seeing the authorship option in the History panel.
0Hi Chuck generally available would mean that is enabled for all Workspaces (accounts) on app.wdesk.com or eu.wdesk.com. That is bizarre you don't see it. I double checked and I do see it. I can ask to see if there's any instances it would not be shown.
0I am having the same issue - I cannot see the Authorship toggle switch under History.
0Hmm... thanks for sharing that Leslie Pfeiffer. I'll circle back with our engineers on this.
0MIke - I am back in Workiva (after issues this morning) and can now see the authorship toggle switch. One question (I have not been able to test it yet), do you know if the authorship will show the authors of tracked changes within tracked changes? That is, if one author writes text that shows up as a tracked change, and then another author edits that language (so there are tracked changes within tracked changes), will it show the 2 separate authors? When I have a chance I'll test it out but wanted to see if you know this already. Thanks!
