I am happy to report some awesome news. Just released to the Workiva Platform is a right-click menu option to Delete Table!

You can also choose Delete Table under the "Delete" button in the Edit toolbar. I hope everyone is as excited as I am. As always, let us know if you have any questions or need anything else. Thanks so much for your feedback and patience along the way, and happy deleting!

    Hi Tanya!

You are not alone in having difficulty/confusion, as this is a popular issue mentioned here. As some of the comments point out, it can be hard to select the entire table, not the cells within it. To delete it, that's the first step. If you click and drag across the table from outside the margins, that should allow you to select the table.

There are some other tips mentioned on the above post and hopefully one of them gets it work for you here. All that aside, there's an ongoing request for adding in a right-click option to delete the table, which I'm happy to add your interest to as well.

Give me a holler if you have any questions on the above or need anything else. Thanks for your contributions and hope you had a delightful holiday.

I am unable to delete the table, I have gone through all the comments in this thread. I am able to select the table however there is no option to delete the table, please help. I did select the delete option under 'Modify table', however the table doesn't go.

I have the same issue after following the suggestions in the thread.

Snap, sorry to hear that, and apologies for the delay Arihant Bengani and Glenna. Are you still unable to delete your tables?

I played around with it and now I only have 1 cell of the table left (A1). I can't seem to get rid of it, but it does not show unless I am hovering over it. I printed and I exported the involved page and it looks fine, so I believe this will work for now.

    Thanks for the follow-up!

Mike I am unable to delete the table and I do not see any additional guidance provided by Workiva, post my comment few days back. As Glenna mentioned one cell stays.

Gotcha Arihant Bengani. We are working on making an improved experience with deleting a table in next gen. However, in the meantime, the two best methods to select a table and delete it are as follows.

    1. Place your cursor next to the unwanted table and double-click, or;
    2. Click and drag your cursor across the table from right to left.

    Here's a quick example:

In both cases, this should highlight the table and choosing Delete from your keyboard should prompt a window asking if you are sure you want to delete the table as it might have links and/or XBRL. Choosing Delete Table should remove it from your document.

Are you not able to delete said table with those options? Let me know if I've missed the mark or you have any follow-ups for me. Thanks again and chat soon!

I have tried to delete tables in my nextgen doc with every suggestion in this forum. Has there been any other updates on how to delete a table?

    Hi Amanda!

Sorry to hear you are having trouble getting that pesky table deleted.  Are you still unable to delete them? Sadly, no new updates on an enhancement that would allow a right-click > delete option. Let me know either way, and I'll also make sure your comments are shared with our Product Team here.

    Hi Mike

Any update on adding a right-click/delete enhancement to delete tables within documents? Thanks.

    Hi Jason,

Thanks for reaching out. I circled back on this one and unfortunately it has yet to be prioritized to be worked on. It seems unlikely that it would be added to Q3 efforts, but I'll double check if they can't sneak it in. We'll get your request connected on our end too, but in the meantime let me know what questions you have or if you need anything else. Many thanks, and happy Wednesday!

Hi Everyone - I think I figured this out. Simply place the cursor next to the table and hit backspace.

Thanks. This did work for me when putting the cursor right before or after the table (upper left corner or lower right corner). A little unintuitive because you don't want to place your cursor such that the column and row headers appear.
