How does the printing process work when filing through Workiva?

    Hi there, Kacie!

Great conversation. I totally think you should transition to Workiva 100% for your filings, but I might be a little biased ;)

I can at least help you with the export out of Wdesk. As your CSM mentioned, there is a "Publish Ready PDF" option in Wdesk. This allows you to select what items to include or exclude that are commonly requested by printers, thinks like CYMK color scheme, hyperlinks, shading, etc. From Wdesk, when you click Save As > PDF, you should see that option. Here's a Help article on the process:

In the meantime, I'd certainly be interested in how others tackle this for sure. Let me know what questions you have for me or if you need anything else in the meantime. Cheers, and happy filing/printing!

We file our 10-K with Workiva, and then Investor Relations uses a printer (Donnelley) to have hard copies printed.

For the Proxy, we used to use the same process, but now draft in Workiva, then use a design firm for the formatting, and then a printer (Toppan) to both file and print the hard copies.

    Jenn,

Does your printer have any issues with the way your 10-K document is formatted, or is it a pretty easy process?

No, no issues. It's an easy process. We do need to redact the "Table of Contents" in the pdf file (it just takes a couple of minutes - maybe there is even an easier way). The printer typesets the cover page, and the rest is "camera ready."

Hi Jenn - Wonder if you can offer any tips. We use Workiva for our proxy and send to a printer. I use the pdf publish ready with the CMYK color option, but the printer always seems to have a lot of issues. Do you have any tips? Why do you have to redact the table of contents? Maybe that's causing the issues. Thank you.

Hi Pam - We haven't had to publish our 10-K in NextGen yet, so I wonder if there are nuances with the transition to NextGen. We didn't really have issues with the printer giving them the publish-ready version. We redact the "Table of Contents" hyperlink that shows up on each page of the filed document as we don't want that in the printed version (we aren't redacting the whole Table of Contents, I don't think I made that clear the first time). Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
