Will there be updates to Certifications for Next Generation?
未計画-
Hi Corrina,
Great question! Actually, our Certifications product was originally developed within the same platform our next generation Wdesk runs on, so at this time there are no new changes planned for Certifications. If that changes, I'll be sure to let you know on this post. Thanks for reaching out and give me a holler if you have any questions. Cheers!-1Hi Mike,
That's continues to be disappointing to hear! Some of us have been asking for increased functionality from Certifications for the last 4-5 years in order to expand use of this tool to include Director and Officer (D&O) Questionnaires. It appears our requests are still be ignored or de-prioritized. I realize that Certifications is a "legacy" product offering and enhancements to it are not as exciting as the "new SOX platform" or the "Next Generation spreadsheet or Editor" and are unlikely to provide additional revenue to Workiva.
That being said, my team continues to utilize our SEC counsel to prepare and distribute these questionnaires along with the Bring-Down (BD) Questionnaires at a cost in excess of $15,000 annually. We have explored numerous workaround in Wdesk to complete these questionnaires, but none are efficient or work as intended. Since every public company is required to complete these questionnaires, this should be low hanging fruit for Workiva!
Please take this request back to the development team, again, we want to be able to add tables and the ability to link in Certifications to spreadsheets or workbooks. We need a solution that works for D&O Questionnaires and BD Questionnaires!
Workiva has proven it has the tools to increase efficiency and productivity. If Certifications is already built on the same platform as the next generation Wdesk, please connect the dots and add this to the product roadmap!1And I feel like I saw in a demo that the certifications in the controls management module did allow linking. So it seems like the technology is already developed?
0Echoing that sentiment. I love how easy the cert module makes distributing and tracking certifications. Users perfer it over paper signoffs as well. However, the absence of very basic date variables (or linking) continues to prevent us from using the module because of the risk of mistake / tedious nature of going through dozens of letters and updating dates and periodic phrases ("for the three months ended...") manually. So we use a wdesk document instead with all the common text and dates linked, but then print and distribute by hand :(
0I agree!
0Hi all!
I definitely understand your disappointments, and appreciate your honest feedback. I am happy to forward your thoughts onto our Certifications team directly. Thanks to you both for your candid input.0Mike,
Why is the editor in the certification tool different than the editor in the documents? The certification editor jumps around and is cumbersome to use.0I agree. I think that a good improvement to certifications would be to have a similar editor setup for Certifications that we have for Documents. I feel that the current Certifications editor limits the customization of the templates.
If we had the same editor for Certifications that we have for documents that would give us more flexibility in customizing Certifications templates. I think having the same editor set-up as Documents would also make it easier to implement linking capabilities to the templates.0We are in the process of testing different workflows for certifications. While Wdesk has served us well in the past there have been no updates to the certification process. Half of our work needs to be completed via email and we need to progress to a workflow format. When we met with our Workivia team post CCAR, we were told a workflow tool was coming but no word since. We did some testing recently and the certification process is so confusing when someone rejects a certification and it goes back to the first signer. One of our test generated 25 emails. One simple fix would be the capability to turn off "thank you" emails. Our executives do not want to receive them.
0I agree. Also condensing Certification requests into one email would be great! For our quarterly Certification process, certifiers have between 2-4 certifications that they must sign off on. Based on how email notifications are set up currently in Workiva, a certifier would get multiple email requests for each certification that they must complete (even before you factor in exception notifications).
0We group all reps for the same person into one letter. We utilize a spreadsheet that breaks down the rep letter per rep, with the columns indicating who certifies for the given rep. This is updated once we get the rep letter from Deloitte, and corresponding reps are updated in the applicable letters in Wdesk. So each certifier only receives one certification letter, which includes all of their (updated) reps for that reporting cycle.
