I have good news, all. A recent release to Workiva now allows next gen content to be added to Binders. 🥳 Thanks much for your patience and feedback, and happy Friday!
Hi Tim,
Sorry for the delay. This one got lost in the shuffle a bit when we moved to the new site. Anway, wanted to provide some updates here.At this time you cannot add any next gen content to a classic Binder. Our Product Team is working on a timeline for getting this feature developed next gen Wdesk. I've passed along your interest with the team and I'll keep you posted with any new developments but do let me know if you have any questions for me in the meantime. Thanks so much, and have an awesome day!
0Hi Mike, Do you have any suggestions on when to transition for those of us who are using support binders with classic documents? I've read that we should be transitioning by Q3 2020, since the classic documents will not work by the end of 2020, but the timeline for support binders says "Late 2020".
0Hi Jamie!
Thanks for your questions. I've been doing some chatting with our Product Team and they are currently working on a plan for next gen Support Binders as we speak. I'm awaiting some more info from the team specifically but one thing to note is that you can choose to transition specific content at any time so any non-Support Binders documents could be transitioned ahead of that late 2020 timeline. Just a thought there.
I'll definitely keep you updated when I have some more info for you. We appreciated you feedback and thanks again. Chat soon!
0Hi Mike, This might be a silly question, but is there anyway to create a support binder or leave tickmarks in a Next Gen document currently, or are we awaiting that 'late 2020 timeline'? My company started on Wdesk in Next Gen so I don't have the classic support binder to use in the interim and was hopeful to begin using a support binder for the upcoming 10K. Thank you!
0Hi William Ames!
Currently you can only create a classic Binder or Support Binder with classic document types. The ability to add next gen types to a Binder and/or create a tick and tie Support Binder in next gen is part of the late 2020 timeline.
I can say that a workaround we've seen being used is to export next gen content as a PDF and then insert that PDF into a classic Binder or Support Binder. Does that make sense?
Give me a holler if you have any questions for me, or need anything else. In the meantime, I've shared your feedback with our Product Team and I'll be in touch with any new updates. And don't worry, there's no such thing as silly questions, only silly answers ;)
Have a great rest of your day!
0I am getting notices from employees we will no longer be able to access classic documents, and support binder is still not functional in NextGen or is it?
0Hi Robert Stevens,
Thanks for reaching out. Happy to explain a little of what your employees were seeing yesterday. The message they got in Wdesk about no longer being able to access Classic was a test that went live to some users by mistake. I can say that Workiva will not be disabling Classic for customers until they have fully transitioned to next gen. This would include things like Classic Support BindersRegarding the second half of your question, next gen Support Binders is not yet functional. Work is currently underway for certain pieces of functionality there, including building a Binder and adding markup. Our current target is to have this available in later in 2020. We'll definitely keep you apprised as this changes. My apologies for any added confusion or concern on your end. Do let me know if you have any questions on the above, or need anything else. Thanks again and have a great rest of your day!0
