Is there a limit for linking from Spreadsheets to Docs?
Con rispostaI'm linking from spreadsheets to docs. It appears I can only apply 'values only', possibly the amount of data I'm linking is too great? Any way around this?

Hi Ray,
Welcome to the Community! Great question. You're right on the mark. Currently, the limit for creating links from a Spreadsheet is 500 at a time, so I suspect you might have hit that limit. Our Product Team is always working on increasing these thresholds so I can keep you updated on this post about improvements there.
If this is not the case for you, or you have other questions for me, let me know. Thanks again for your question and have a great day in the meantime. Cheers!0I am having a problem linking from a spreadsheet to a doc, but I don't think that data limitation is the issue. It seems to be when there is a destination link vs. a source link. For example, I have a table that has a combination of source links and destination links (one example is the column headers which include dates that are sourced from a separate "Dates" sheet). In Workbooks I would highlight the whole table, copy and paste into the doc and would get the option to create links. If I do that in spreadsheets, I do not get the option create links...I can only paste the values. However, if I select just the portion of the table that is source links I am given the option to create links. For the column headers that are destination links, I had to go straight to the "Dates" sheet and link from there. This is much more cumbersome than just doing the whole table at once. Some of our tables for stats have a combination of destination and source links, so it isn't just the column headers we would have the issue with. Is there another way to do this that I am just missing? 0Has there been improvement? Is there a way I can tell whether i have hit the limit? 0Hi Sarah!
I did a little digging and thought I should clarify. The 500 link limit still exists, but only if you are going from a Spreadsheet to a classic Document. However, if you are linking from a Spreadsheet to a next generation Document (or Presentation) the limit is 5,000 links.
If you hit this limit, you'll receive an error message and as you approach the maximum amount links allowed in a Spreadsheet. You can see that info in the Document Health panel, like so:
Hope that helps answer your question. Do let me know if you need anything else or have any additional questions for me. Thanks, and have a great day!0In the document health section - what amount of links triggers an error message as you approach the maximum link limit? 0Hi Erica!
When you hit over 75% of the link limit, the health warning will be triggered.0Hi Mike,
Has this limitation of 5,000 links between spreadsheets and documents been increased since this last post?
0Hi Tom!
Welcome to the Community, and thanks for the question. Indeed, the limit has since been increased.
Today, you can have up to 70,000 links between both Source (blue) and Destination (green) links contained in a single file.
Let me know if you have any follow-ups for me there or need anything else. Thanks again and have a great day!
