  From a technical standpoint, a geofence is a virtual geographic radius centered around a user. In Wdesk, geofencing is used as a precaution against attackers impersonating Wdesk users.

   

  When logging into Wdesk, your physical location (city/state/country + latitude and longitude) is automatically determined by your IP address and stored in the system. If at any time during your Wdesk session your IP address changes and your new IP address moves too far from its previous location, Wdesk will automatically log you out.

  While the geofence in Wdesk is large enough for users who are traveling to be unaffected and small enough that we can effectively catch potential attacks, there are instances where your IP addresses may periodically be moved intentionally, which can cause a 'false positives', so-to-speak, and prompt that geofencing message in Wdesk.

  To fix this issue from popping up, we first suggest talking to your own IT team to make sure your connection “should” be moving as reported in Wdesk. If this is a continual occurrence, the geofencing setting can be disabled on your account by an administrator. The setting is found under Org Admin < Security < Authentication.
