Changes coming to Canadian filings with SEDAR+
On July 25th, the Canadian Securities Administrators will be introducing SEDAR+ (more info here).
This is a new way to submit Canadian filings through an online portal at sedarplus.ca instead of a program installed on a user’s computer. This is a great enhancement for Canadian filers.
With this change Workiva will no longer be needed to file on behalf of customers and helps put customers in the driver’s seat. But don’t worry, Workiva will be here to help guide you through the filing process and available resources from SEDAR+.
In the lead up to SEDAR+, your CSM and SEDAR filing team had reached out to ensure an Electronic Filer Agreement (EFA) was completed and sent to SEDAR+ by ourselves or an outside filing agent. If it was overlooked or incomplete, then our SEDAR filing team can walk you through the process of uploading a brand-new EFA to SEDAR+.
Each organization has an Authorized Super User (ASU), designated within the SEDAR+ EFA. Right before SEDAR+ goes live on the 25th, they should receive sign in credentials. Then, on the 25th, your ASU can sign in and designate others to be additional Authorized Super Users or Authorized Users with a more limited ability to file. More information about adding additional filers can be found here.
After your ASU logs into SEDAR+ for the first time and they set up other users as needed, the next step is to review and correct, if necessary, your company’s issuer profile. If your profile is not listed, you can request access as described here.
While the annual filing and its annual filing fees may not happen for some time, it is important to set up the banking information in SEDAR+ (see “Fee payment” section).
Now that your ASU and other users have access, your profile is up to date, and banking information has been added, filings can be uploaded and submitted. There are a few menus and options to click through, but overall it is a smoother filing experience and is shown on the training site here.
If you used Workiva to file with SEDAR in the past, then a SEDAR Filer should have reached out in July with an introduction. As mentioned above, our team will be available to help guide you through accessing SEDAR+ for the first time and walk you through your next test filing in the upcoming weeks.
Please don’t delay in setting up this test filing call as soon as possible to ensure everything goes well for any filings in July and August.
There are also a lot of great resources on the SEDAR+ help centre and learning centre as well as SEDAR+ Support resources here. Once you have transitioned to SEDAR+ please refer to their support line going forward.
We’re excited for this new enhancement for our Canadian filers and look forward to assisting you through this transition to SEDAR+.

SEDAR+ also has a newsletter; the one from August 8 has a lot of great information and resources:
