Sections and pdf indexing
Hello, I have a question following up on this article. As noted, a pdf will generate multiple image files once edgarized. This article shows how to get the hyperlink to ONE image. What if my document was intended to be a whole exhibit? Is it ok to just link to the first image?
After EDGARizing
After you EDGARize a PDF, you'll see a number below the PDF name with a count of the generated files. You can view the list of generated files by clicking the PDF to expand the detailed information.
From this view, you can highlight a file and open the action menu to copy the file name for the PDF, if you need to create a hyperlink in your exhibit index. To learn how to hyperlink your exhibit, see Hyperlinking the Exhibit Index.

Hi MD!
If you are hyperlinking in your index to an exhibit in your filing package that was created by EDGARizing a PDF, you'd want to link to the .HTM file that was created for it, even if your exhibit is one page, i.e. one image. Does that make sense?
Let me know what questions you have and/or if you need any further assistance. Always happy to help. Thanks and happy filing!
0Hi @MIKE, how do I get the link for the htm? I only see the drop down for get filename under each individual image
0Hi MD!
That is weird, I'd expect to see a file named something like equictydeferralplan.htm in your list but is not there. For example, here's one I tested:
The top file under the PDF would be the filename you'd use in the exhibit index.
What you could do under that same drop down, choose the option to Generate Files and that should generate a new EDGAR file in the list, which is the one you'd want to mark as your Exhibit. To get the filename to use in your index, click on the right-hand side next to the HTML file and choose 'Copy Filename' to get at that quickly. Use that in your document when creating the hyperlink, like so:
Note that after you edit your source document, you'd need to generate it again in the filing experience to get this new edit included.
Let me know what questions you have there or if I can assist with anything else. Thanks much and chat soon!
0Thanks that worked! Regarding entering the link as a web address, will it not be previewable until I file? After linking, when I click on that link to view it attempts to go to the web address and I get an error in the browser
0Glad to hear that worked!
Regarding your question, from a technical standpoint, there is no difference between an EDGARized PDF .htm exhibit and any other HTML file, so you should be able to preview it. Sometimes logging out and back in fixes issues with that. That being said, when you test file, there is a Test Filing Preview available which can be downloaded. The exhibit would also be viewable from there.
Let me know if you run into any issues there or have questions. Always happy to help!
