Impact of 11/19/2021 SEC EDGAR Filing Changes on wDesk?

The SEC announced that on or about 11/19/2021 they would implement changes to the EDGAR filing process that could impact how third-party software communicates with the EDGAR filing site.  The purpose of this update is to add additional layers of security.  What impact will this have on wDesk (if any), and if there is an impact, is Workiva prepared for this change?

    Thanks for bringing this up. Happy to help provide an answer for you. I assume you might be referring to this change mentioned here? If so, this announcement related to proposed Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) changes being pushed back a bit.

    These CSRF changes will strengthen filing security by adding a token to the filing submission process.  Workiva was informed of this change back in September and participated in the SEC’s beta test program to ensure that our software was updated to work with this change. The SEC originally scheduled this change to be released on Monday, October 25, 2021, and Workiva was already prepared. There is now a delay in this implementation until November, but Workiva will remain ready for this release, so there is no impact on Workiva or our customers anticipated.

    Quick update here: the SEC has further delayed this change until as late as November 22nd. Workiva remains prepared for this change and no impact is expected for Workiva filers. We'll let you know for sure when this change does go into effect. Many thanks and happy Friday!
