Mass edit permissions for all files within a folder
CompletedIt is incredible time consuming to have to change permissions for each individual file within a folder. I need to give 2 individuals owner permissions to all 30+ files within 1 folder. Apparently, in addition to granting folder permissions, I have to change each document permission individually within the folder meaning I have to do this more than 30 times. I use groups but I still need to add the group to each file (30+) times. There really needs to be a way to make mass edits to document permissions inside a folder. Super frustrating!

Hi all,
Great news! A recent release to Workiva has now made Folder and Files Permissions (aka Folder Advanced Permissions) available. 🥳 To access, just right-click on a folder and select Permissions > Folder and Files.
Note: sections/sheets/slides are not shown in this view. To facilitate access, a right-click/dropdown option has been added within the feature to access “Section Permissions” of individual files if you need to dig deeper.
Thanks so much for your feedback and patience. Give us a holler if you have any questions, or additional feedback on this enhancement. Cheers, and happy permissioning!
I'll second this.
0Hi Rebecca (and Patrick)!
Thanks to you both for you input. I can say that our Product Team is working on the ability to view and edit permissions for folders and the files within them. I don't have a timeline for when this will be released, but as soon as I do I'll be sure to keep you updated.
And certainly any other passers by are encouraged to share you interest here as well, or simply vote on this glorious suggestion.
Let me know what questions you have in the meantime, or if you need anything else. Thanks again and stay great!
0Hi Mark, count me in. I would like to see this function being added.
0You got it, Lisa!
