Paragraph styles in table
AnsweredHi again,
I'm so thankful for the auto height possibility in the new Wdesk! However, there's one thing that I don't understand.
Adding an indentation into the paragraph style and using that for text in table works perfectly with the auto width but that is not the case when adding space before or after. It shows the space correctly when the text is selected, but when clicked away from the table the space between chapters disappears.
What I'm trying to achieve is to use paragraph style to add padding into the cell and use auto height to fit the text. The reason for that is that we want to make a coloured box behind the text. We have a lot of tables so manually adding space in the cells by dragging the cell border is not an option.
Is this a bug that could be fixed or an annoying feature?

Hello again, Sini :)
Hmm.... that's very interesting behavior. I've not specifically seen this before, but I am wondering if this would be potentially addressed by the release of ruler bars for table cells? We have a similar convo here about indenting text in tables, and as mentioned there, our Product Team is actively working on a ruler bar for tables to better insert things like hanging indents. I'll be sure to share you insights with them too for consideration. In the meantime, I'll do some testing as well to see if I can replicate your particular issue too.
Let me know what questions you have for me, or if you need anything else. Thanks much and chat soon!
0Hi Sini!
Wanted to let you know that recent release to Workiva has now made ruer bars available in Documents (and Presentations). You can now add a hanging indent to your table cells, both individually or in bulk.
As always, thanks so much for your patience and feedback. Happy early Thanksgiving! 🦃 🥧 🤗
0I am having the same issue as Sini,
I have linked cells in a colored background and need to have the text not crash into the top of the cell. The Paragraph styles are no help at all, it will direct everything other than the space before. (Separate issue: the left indent doesn't move the text over either, instead crops out the first few letters of all the words instead). I did look into the "hanging indent" but I need something that would help align the text vertical to always start in the same spot over multiple cells; the Align doesn't help in this situation since some cells have a single line of content and other have 3-4 lines of content.0Please sign in to leave a comment.
