Numbers "entered in" & "shown in" - Why is "shown in" sometimes not available?

Hello and welcome to the Community, Yisha! Happy to help answer this for ya.

To clarify, are you working in a Classic Workbook, or a Classic Presentation? I saw your posting was dropped into the Presentations topic, but based on the screen image you may be looking at a Classic Workbook.

If that is the case, the ability to edit your 'Shown In' is restricted to tables in Classic Documents, text links or or formulas within tables or Classic Workbooks. However, the 'Shown In' for a source cell cannot be edited in your Workbook. This is intentionally set to avoid the confusion of having a number entered in something, say Ones, and shown in something else, say Thousand, as it could be the source for many, many values. Since the Classic Workbook is often the main repository for sourced values, it is set as such.

Let me know if I've missed the mark or you have any questions on the above. Thanks again and for your contributions and you have a great day!
