Creating multiple destination links within a single spreadsheet cell
Hi Team,
Can we create multiple destination links within a single spreadsheet cell? If not, is there a way to concatenate data from two cells in one spreadsheet and link them in an other spreadsheet cell?

Hi Mike!
The above process works in an embedded table cell within word document but not in a spreadsheet cell. When i try to paste multiple destination links within a spreadsheet cell, after double clicking on the cell, data is pasting as a normal text and link option doesn't show up while pasting. Let me know if there is a way to achieve in a spreadsheet cell.
2Hello again, Evanjelin!
Yes, in next gen does support multiple links inside a cell, sometimes called sub-cell linking. For example, if you had a line item that listed a numeric value within it, you can link that item as well as the cell itself. Here's a Help article about the process: https://support.workiva.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035640332-Creating-Multiple-Links-Inside-a-Cell.
Hopefully this helps. Let me know if I can help answer any other questions you have, or you need any assistance on the above. Thanks again and have a super day!
1hello! is there an update on this feature?
1That's true. This capability is only available in the table in the document but not in the spreadsheet itself. Is this something coming to the spreadsheet itself?
0Yes, but a different spreadsheet. Source and destination both are spreadsheets but are in different folders. Is there any way to achieve this using cross sheet formula? I tried to use this but it was not recognizing the destination sheet within formula field.
0You are both correct, sub-cell linking is currently only available in embedded tables, but not the Spreadsheet itself. Roman Magar we do plan to add this to Spreadsheets but I don't have a timeline for when this would be available. I've added you both to the request, however, and we'll keep you updated.
The most common workaround we've seen, as you mention, is some sort of concatenate or simple reference formula. You can reference across sheets of the same Spreadsheet, but not across separate Spreadsheets. Is your formula going across sheets housed in the same file, or separate files Evanjelin Karunya Savio?
0Hi Mike - is there an update as to a potential release date for subcell linking within a cell of a spreadsheet?
0Hi Adam Horowitz! I double checked and at this time there's not been much change on our end regarding this enhancement and it remains solely proposed at this point. I'm happy to connect you to that request as well so you can stay apprised. Sorry I couldn't provide any better news. Holler if you need anything further. Cheers and happy Friday!
0Hi Mike - I am very interested in being updated on this enhancement as well, so if you could connect me to the request as well, that would be great!
0You got it, Alecia!
0Hi Mike, could you also connect me to the request as our IR team would love this feature! Thanks :)
0It's a deal, Dani!
0Same, I'm finding more and more often that I'm wishing Spreadsheets had this feature.
0Quick update here. The enhancement for supporting sub-cell links in Spreadsheets has been moved to the future roadmap. I don't have a timeline as of yet, but its good news. Your perseverance has paid off.
We'll continue to take in new requests and feedback, so keep it coming. Let me know if you have any questions for me in the meantime. Cheers!
0Hi Mike, I was wondering if this is offered yet. Thank you!
0This is still on our roadmap, Angela, though no specific timeline as of yet.
0I''m interested in this functionality as well.
0+1. I'm interested in this. Thank you!
0Our team would definitely use this feature if implemented. Thanks
0Thanks everyone! We have added you to the idea ticket!
0Hi Magdalena!
Thanks for the note on this one. At this time there's not been any new updates on when, though it does remain planned to be done. I'll be sure to get you added as a requestor and will keep you apprised of the status.
