    Hi Po Chen,

Workiva is pretty much already set up for iXBRL so if you are doing your current tagging in house, I think you would be able to transition to iXBRL rather smoothly. All you have to do to "migrate" is check a box in the settings that says to enable iXBRL (https://support.workiva.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036001931) and then there are a few additional things to consider (this link https://support.workiva.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036001871-Tagging-with-iXBRL has some helpful information on what may be different between iXBRL and XBRL) but it is very straightforward. We do our XBRL in-house and had a pretty seamless transition.

I would suggest rolling forward iXBRL in the document you are using earlier perhaps than normal to work through some of the additional warnings that you may get as there can be a few nuances with formatting dates and making sure you have un-phantomed everything that you can. There will inevitably be a warning for the phantom sections.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Lily,

Great to know that you have completed the iXBRL migration in-house. We just started thinking about this and I have a step 1 question for you - the platform. We are still using the old "Workbook" platform instead of the new "Spreadsheet" platform. Do you know if the old platform supports iXBRL filing? or do we have to migrate to the new platform for iXBRL? Thanks.

We are using workbooks and the old platform and have had no problem. The one thing that we can't do it double tag (i.e. tag one number for both 2017 and 2018) or subcell tagging, but we just use phantom tagging, similar to regular XBRL. I think that the double tagging / subcell tagging may be available in the newer generation (or will be available very soon), but you don't need it to file iXBRL.

Lily nailed it. You may tag and file using inline XBRL with both classic and next generation Wdesk products. And as Lily mentions, next generation Documents do support multiple concept tagging on the same value, so less total need for phantom tags and/or non-printing sections there, but its not needed to file with iXBRL specifically. You can still tag using the previous method, its really only the output that changes with iXBRL.

Hope that helps. Feel free to hit me up with any other questions you have. Happy Friday and cheers!

Thanks, Mike. This is very helpful. We probably will go with the new Wdesk solution.
