iXBRL Age Tagging
AnsweredHow do I properly tag age in IXBRL? For example, if you were to say "Company XY employees are eligible to receive benefits after age 55 with 10 years of service? What's the correct format to enter the "55" for tagging? Would the concept used be integer or duration type?

Hello Elvia,
To tag the age in iXBRL, the 55 value will need to be set up as a duration in the PYMD format. In this case, a value of P55Y, and the concept selected should also be a duration element type.
Hope this helps! If you have any questions for me, just let me know. Thank, and happy tagging. :)0Thank you for your response. Just a quick follow-up: I'd need to tag the 55 in the phantom section so I can add the word years within the tagging as per the new requirement for iXBRL, "55 years", correct?
0Hi Elvia,
As long as the 55 is shown as “55” in the your document you can tag it directly in the section. There are some instances when a duration is shown as a word it can trigger an SEC critical error. In those instances, you would need to phantom tag that disclosure.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else. Cheers!0Please sign in to leave a comment.
