After generating XBRL, you can use the the Wdesk XBRL Viewer to open the filing document in an HTML layout for an in-depth review. You can easily navigate through the document sections in the HTML layout or export it for review. This option simplifies the tick-and-tie process and serves as basis for the Wdesk XBRL blackline feature.
Accessing the XBRL Viewer Report
To access the Wdesk XBRL Viewer, generate XBRL for your project. From the Projects panel on the right, select the XBRL tab and click Wdesk XBRL Viewer for the revision you want to review.
The report opens in a separate tab in your browser.
Reviewing Facts Using the Legend
The Wdesk XBRL Viewer highlights your XBRL facts within the regular structure of your document. Refer to the Legend in the upper left to understand the different highlight colors.
The Wdesk XBRL Viewer highlights potentially untagged values in the document with purple. Make sure you review these potentially untagged facts to determine if you need to tag them.
Use the View Options in the panel on the left to control which details to see for each fact. The View Options are the same as Review Display options in the Wdesk editor.
For example, if you select Balance Type, the viewer displays credit or debit for values.
Understanding the Document Outline The Document Outline panel on the left shows the full outline of the document. It includes color coding:
- Black: No facts tagged
- Blue: Tagged facts without errors or warnings
Red: Tagged facts with errors or warnings
Viewing Fact Details
The panel at the bottom provides additional details for all the facts in the section you have open.
- Facts: Review all fact details for the section.
- Concepts: Review the concepts, how many times they used in the section, their meanings, and more.
- Contexts: Review the time periods used, dimensions, and more details for facts in the section.
- Units: Review which units are used in the section.
- Validation: Review a Validation summary for the section.
Download Section XLSX: Download a spreadsheet file of all the fact details for the section.
Click a concept in the section to locate it in the list on any of the tabs you are viewing.
Viewing Additional Reports
The Reports options in the left panel allow you to download different versions of the facts report.
You can also use the Validation Summary to see a list of all the errors and warnings in your document. Click a validation message in the list to see additional details.
