What is Disconnected Data?
XBRL data is connected to your document through links. If those links are removed, the data has become disconnected.
Why Disconnected Data Occurs
Data can become disconnected when links are cut and pasted or removed as you work on your document. You will need to toggle XBRL on and off in order for the disconnected data to be indicated.
Wdesk will give you a warning if you are about to delete a link.
Handling Disconnected Data
When XBRL data has become disconnected, you can either copy the XBRL to a new link or delete the XBRL data.
To copy disconnected XBRL data:
- 1
- Click Copy XBRL from the Disconnected XBRL Data window.
- 2
- Click the new link and the XBRL Detail Tagging window will pop up. The paste icon will now be available for you to click.
Click the Paste icon and paste the selected XBRL onto the new link.
If you don't need the XBRL data that has been disconnected, click Delete. Additionally, if you have a lot of disconnected data that you know you will not need, Wdesk allows you to clear all of these at once. Click the Advanced button on the XBRL toolbar and select Remove Disc. Data (Active Section).
