From ESG Program, you can curate metric values to disclose in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting. As part of data collection, workspace members can provide notes with additional context about a metric value. From the Factbook Spreadsheet, you can then use these metric notes as a footnote when a value appear in Documents.
Step 1. Craft footnote in ESG Program
To create the footnote for a metric value:
- From ESG Program, open the value's metric.
- In Metric notes, either:
- Enter the content for the footnote.
- Review the content provided by the assignee, and edit as necessary.
Tip: From a metric's Configure metric panel, you can choose whether to require notes about its values when assignees complete their tasks.
Step 2. Create source link from Factbook
To ensure the footnote automatically reflects updates from ESG Program, link its content from the Factbook spreadsheet:
- From the spreadsheet's Connections panel, refresh the incoming connections to ensure the latest content from ESG Program.
- From the Performance tables section, select the cell that captures the footnote's content.
- To copy the content, press Ctrl + C or Command + C — for a PC or Mac, respectively — on your keyboard.
Step 3. Link content into Document's footnote
In the destination Document, create a footnote with the linked content:
- In the Document, select text or table cell with the metric value, then right-click and select Insert footnote.
- In the footnote at the bottom of the page, press Ctrl + V or Command + V — for a PC or Mac, respectively — on your keyboard to paste the linked content from the Factbook.
