Workiva's new Section 16 application allows you to file Section 16 forms with a modern experience. This new look and feel maintains your favorite features of the classic Section 16, such as editing your transactions in form-based experience, while providing improvements such as improved filing guidance and a more cohesive editing workflow.

Some of the new features and improvements include:
- Ability to EDGARize Power of Attorney documents as either PDFs or Workiva documents within the filing experience
- Update holding balances when a form is filed, eliminating issues around managing holding balances on in-flight transactions
- New pending transactions ledger to track running balances
- Improved footnotes experience including the ability to add footnotes on holding creation
- Filing health panel for insight into filing validations
- Form preview you can access and download from any filing step
You will need the Section 16 Filer Access role to access Section 16 and create or modify content. Filing Section 16 forms requires the Section 16 Filer role.
Migrating from classic Section 16
Migrating from the classic Section 16 to the new experience can be done with just a few clicks. You can migrate using the prompt or from the banner if you choose not to migrate immediately. Accounts with a large number of footnotes or signatures may take longer to migrate.
Filed forms, reporting owners, and the contents of your footnotes, securities, and signatures libraries are migrated automatically.
You may need to adjust permissions following migration due to security and permission improvements. If you are unable to see the Section 16 application following migration, contact your workspace admin to request the Section 16 Access or Section 16 Filer role.
Note: Unfiled forms and supporting documents such as Power of Attorney will not migrate automatically. You should file, archive, or delete unfiled forms. Supporting documents should be captured outside of Workiva.
Familiar editing experience
The new Section 16 maintains the realistic view of your forms available in classic. View and edit your transactions the way they'll appear when you file.
Follow filing progress
You can now see where a form is at in the filing process at a glance, and see warnings if there are any issues with your filing.
Download reports
You can also download reports for reporting owners, holdings, or transactions to ensure data accuracy through validation and reconciliation, track ownership, and share with others. Click Download Reports and choose the type of report you want to download for a report of the selected page, or open a reporting owner page and click Download Reports for a detailed report on a single reporting owner.
